If you’re reading this email, you subscribed to this newsletter on JacktheRipperVictims.com any time from a week ago to two years ago.
If you’ve been waiting a long time, I apologize for the delay. I had some technical issues that threw a wrench in the whole thing.
After starting a different newsletter on Substack six months ago, it eventually occurred to me that I could resurrect the Jack the Ripper Victims newsletter on Substack. And here we are.
A few things to note:
With the exception of the post you’re now reading, the homepage of this newsletter, “Canonical 5,” is currently populated exclusively with content from JacktheRipperVictims.com. I didn’t want to launch with nothing, which is why I ported those articles over, but I also wanted to give you the heads up so that you don’t think I’m attempting to pawn old content off as new.
BUT
You will start seeing new stuff at some point this week. This email is simply a reminder and a reacquaintance, so hello!
Upcoming Article Topics
Here’s a quick overview of some of the topics I’ll be covering in the coming weeks and months (I’ll be posting two or three times a month):
The media’s creation and perpetuation of Jack the Ripper myths
Why the Whitechapel murder victims were usually middle-aged
A critique of From Hell, Alan Moore’s popular graphic novel
Why Ripperologists hate historian Hallie Rubenhold
Antisemitism in Victorian London and its impact on the Whitechapel murders
In the meantime, here’s an article I wrote about the digital legacy left behind by the Whitechapel murder victims:
